it was, there is now a golden opr port unity for the Chairman to put himself onside with his ratepayers by explaining in the public press urhy he state,d at the Council meeting that the Nukuhou and Waimana ratepayers favoured the scheme, whein, as a matter of fact; they were'—with only q few exceptions —strongly opposed to it. When it becomes; necessary to petition the Council to emsur© thai ratepayers wishes! are carried out by the ridling members who represent them, it is indiaed time to change the representatives. It would l be interesting to hear the staff now occupy their spare timet —that is the. time that they were to have spent in administer-* ing the £50,000 housing scheme— this with the usual Government road .grants cut out, must surely have reduced that standard fortyhour week by half. Would it not be opportune) to shift the site of the much discussed! swimming pool to near thet Council Chambers? Ratepayers are indebted! to stalwart Councillor McCready for standing alone to protect their interest*, r—his efforts succeeded in the ratepayers wishes, being adheircd to by the council for the time being. Yours etc., RATEPAYER.
