In a brief diseussj.on, the unsatisfactory service being received from tlie local telephone exchange received attention at Monday's mealing of the Whakatano Chamber of Commerce. Mr A. J. Canning was of the opinion that the. service was suffering from the! same difficulties as other businesses —.shortage of staff. All realised that the service was bad, but allowances should be made for the staff i)rob]cms.

Mr Dillicar stated that he ha:l had some experience of exchange work and suggested* that perhaps a respectfully termed letter to the postmaster might l improve matters. The service was not good but the exchange was working undter difficulties. It was decided that a letter be written.
