There, is every indication that Avit.h, of course, the turning out of yoiimger teams in the first grade, a competition of interest will be organised, and the Rugby Union officials arc making streinuous efforts to makei this as attractive as possible. and are asking ail younger men under military age, and also those who have given up the sport perhaps too soon in favour of golf and other pastimesi, to once again don shorts and, jersey to maintain in its position in the Dominion that sport which, all New Zealanders love so that on the return of men from overseas they Avijll. find that their sporting chibs, as well as their general welfare, have! been cared for by those whose, duty it was to keep the home fires burning. A special general meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Union is to be hold on Thursday next in the County Council Chambers. The meeting is to commence at 8 p.m. and the annual report and balance sheet will be presented, after which prospects for the coming season Avill be reviewed . It is the duty of all those past players Avho have "taken something" from the game Lo "put something back into it," by attending and taking a share of the responsibility jioav placed on all those at home Avho have during their lifetime have carried club colours. Avhil'c a duty is placed on young men to conic forward and fill those vacancies left by the men who are placing a bigger game at the front.
