In a letter to a friend In ChicagOi dated October 3, 1939, from Halle, Germany, he told of revisiting the scenes of his war adventures, and continued;— '"Now we are at war again, Ingeborg (his wife) and I had in mind to come to good old America at the end of this year. We all hope foi peace, as nobody shows any enthusiasm for war. ''We had a lovely time. It was a pit> that the damn war interrupted everything.
