SCOUTING

ONEPU TROOP

An enjoyable week-end was spent at Tauranga by the Onepu Boy Scout Troop during the recent annual Scout Rally, in spite of unsettled weather conditions. The District Commissioner, at Tauranga, with Commissioner Southon of Matamata, provided the boys with a delightful outing on the ferry to Mt. Maunganui the "blowhole" (which by the way refused, to blow), all indulged in a swim .in the briny ocean. The "Air Force" launch was also inspected, which was paying a call to Tauranga. Troop Activities. The troop is concentrating on morse and semaphore signalling, these being found very backward during the rally. Scout J. Gould has been invested with his "tenderfoot" badge, while the following have been promoted :— To Troop Leader: P.L., J. Cxaddock. To Patrol Leader; 2nd P.L., R Jamieson. To 2nd 1 Patrol Leaders: Scouts A. Mell, A. O'Brien. We wish them "good scouting."
