MORE LIGHTING
MAYOR'S HOPE
SPECIAL SHADES ORDERED
Stating that it Avas hoped to be able to increase lighting in the town shortly the Mayor, at Monday night's meeting of the 1 Borough Council, stated that the council had put into the operation the blackout, having had instructions to do so. There had been no alternative other than to do what had been done, and it had) been considered better to introduce 1 a complete blackout, and then relax it, than do the job piecemeal.
He desired, he added, to cause as little inconvenience as possible, and the council had placed an order for fifty special shades for street lights, which it was hoped would arrive shortly. These would improve the position to some extent and then it was intended to experiment with a view to ascertaining how many othc\r lights could be made use of without contravening the regulations.
