PROGRESSIVE PAIRS TOURNEY The weather unfortunately interfered with the Progressive Pairs Tournament held at the week-end. The final game had to be abandoned and the results taken from the five games played. Four Leads tied with four games each and W. Henderson won on the draw. Two Skips also tied with four games each, W. Baxter winning the draw. Details were as follows :— Leads- J. Bell 1% wi/.is, Blennerhassett 1, Burt 2, Bullard 4, McLeod 3, Smith 2, White 2, Salmon 4 Drubc *4, S hap ley 1%, Henderson 4 Oswald 3, Grant 1, Bridger 3. Skips: Healy 3 wins, Loane 3, Chambers 1, King 2, Francis 3, Turpin 3, Marsh 0, Baxter 4, Howat 3 Littlerjohn 2, Hayward 4, E. J. Bell 2, Lux ton 1%, Mclsaac 3. The Junior Championship single? final was played between G. Oswald and J. Bullard. After a good game in which Bullard nearly overtook a big initial lead by Oswald, Oswald ran out the winner by 22-17. The usual weekly draw resulted as folloAvs:— Murphy, Creeke, Baxter, Chamberlain 20 v McMillan, Boon, Francis, Marsh 13; Johnson, Bigelow Shaw, Littlejohn 19 v Shapley, Pear son, Canning, Comer 17; Wilson, J. WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB FIRST MATCH OF SEASON The first match of the Whakatane Golf Club's season was the Canadian Foursome played on the opening day Ifeld last Saturday. This was won by Miss V. Carter and Mr C. A. Suckling, with 33 net.
