WHAKATANE LEADS

HOME GUARD MEMBERSHIP HIGHEST FIGURES FOR N.Z. Latest enrolments for the Home Guard (No. 2A area) have brought the total to 5085, with the highest figure on a population basis, for any area in the Dominion. Within that area Whakatane leads having nearly one hundred more enrolments than the next in order, Rotorua. The table for the respective groups read as follows ; Whakatane 1576; Rotorua 1498; Tauranga 1307: Opotiki 498; Taupo 206. Total 5085.

A parade and inspection is scheduled for Whakatane on April 26 and one at Opotiki on April 2(7. Colonel M. Aldred, Auckland District Commander, will attend both of these gatherings.
