CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS The Whakatane Bowling Club was represented at Tauranga during last week-end in the Baj r of Plenty Bowling Centre's annual tournament to decide the Champion of Champion singles and the executive rinks tourney from the ten clubs. In the Champion of Champion singles W. A. Knaggs was narrowly defeated in the finals by Manning of Te Puke, while in the rinks tourney the Rotorua rink skipped by Portman, gained two wins and two losses. The results of the champion singles are as follows :— First Round: Te Puke (Manning 15, v Tauranga South (Goodacre) 6; llotorua (Knaggs) 27, v Whakatane (Hnyward) 8; Katiknti (Cliffe) 13, v Tauranga (Woods) 24. Second Round: Hay ward 17, v Goodacre 25; Woods 17, v Manning 13; Cliffe 12, v Knaggs 19. Third Round: Goodacre 20, v Woods 17; Knaggs 16, v Manning 21; Cliffe 7, v Hayward 16. Fourth Round: Cliffe 14„ v Hayward 18; Manning 17, v Goodacre 16: Woods 12, v Knaggs 28. Final: Both Knaggs (Rotorua) and Manning (Te Puke), had three wins each, and met in the final, which was a very close game fought all the way through before a large gallery of spectators. Manning won by 24 to 20.
