ENJOYABLE DANCE
AID TO PATRIOTIC FUNDS A large number of residents were attracted to the King Street Hall on Friday evening when a dance promoted by Mr and Mrs McKenzie and family resulted in the sum of £5 8s 6d being handed to the Patriotic Funds. The event marked the attaining of their silver wedding anniversary by Mr and Mrs McKenzie, and to celebrate the occasion, it was the novel decision to hold a dance but to make it a benefit for patriotic purposes. Dancing, to the music of tlic Gaiety Boys orchestra, continued until a late hour and a feature of the evening was the rendering of "Sons of the Diggers" by the composer, Mr Ernest Armstrong. This was played as ail extra dance am} its popularity was added to by the fact that Mrs Berry sang the chorus. ' During the evening a tasty supper was dispensed by the hostess who was ably assisted by friends.
