TWO TONS OF BEER
SEIZURE BY POLICE RAID AT TOKOMARU BAY ; _____ A truck load of beer, estimated to weigh two tons, was taken hy the police from four premises in Tokomaru Bay on Friday evening, and it is understood that occupiers •of the places will face charges under the Licensing Act.
The removal of the beer followed a raid by eight members of the police force, most of whom were from Gisborne. They were under Senior-Sergeant J. R. HL Macnamara, working in conjunction with Constable R. W. of Tokomaru Bf\y. There eight in the which assembled in T'oko'niaru Bay at about 5.30 p.m.
Sly grogging had been suspected at Tokomaru Bay, and the raidl was designed to embrace all places believed to be engaged in it. From ■one place 800 quart bottles of beer "were taken away by the police, and large quantities also, were removed from other premises. The total made a heavy load, and was regarded as an exceptionally big haul. The beer was brought to the Gisborne police station.
