GOOD PROGRESS MADE
TRAINING KEENLY FOLLOWED
Training in the Home Guard is being taken seriously by the mem-
bers which in the Whakatane area
now number considerably over the ~ 1000, and exceptional keenness is being displayed by all units.. On
Thursday evenings the Miedical and
Signalling units co*| inue to parade at the Winter Show Hall and receive instruction in their special
duties, last week also being schooled in rifle drill.
The Infantry and Engineers have been having daylight parades and yesterday again paraded at the Domain, while, steadily increasing in numbers, the Mounted men are very enthusiastic. The troopers paraded mounted on Saturday at Poroporo and again yesterday. RuplokLXfompany Training ir. ne/ct craft commenced yesterday when officers from Whakatane visited that district to give instruction to the company. Model Platoon The platoon which is to be brought to a peak of efficiency so that it may assist with the training of other platoons and which had its first parade last week, will again foe on duty at the Domain to-mor-row evening.
