OHOPE ROAD

Sir, —I understand that at next meeting of the'- County Couficil theproposal of putting a road through Mr Runnerstrum's grounds is to be considered. He has just purchased my section understanding by doing so that he would not be compelled to mutilate his sections by having a road put through. When I, Mr Sisam and others bought these sections it was on the understanding that we were liable to give the adjoining owners access, but not the general public, and as my section was

at the extreme end with no right-of-way through it I could not Jae compelled to road it. As it is, I can see no useful need of roading unless it is to make the sections 3 parking ground for cars. As it is there is ample room 011 the beach for. people to walk a few chains to the Muff. Mr Runnerstrum has done much to beautify his place by planting rare shrubs and flowers and I think. It would be vandalism to mutilate it by putting a road through it. Mr Runnerstrum has also been .a very liberal supporter of sports and also patriotic and other deserving bodies. I think therefore that if you destroy the beauty of his property you may lose a resident who has done much to make the place attractive. Yours etc., - JAS. GRANT, Kopurikl.
