The Gaiety Boys orchestra gave their services free for the whole evening and the dance music was all that could be desired.
At an appropriate interval Mr F. J. Reynolds, in making a presentation to each of the four men (Ptes J. Walker, J. Hamilton, F. Hatcher
and G. King) expressed the goodwill of all present. Thornton, he said, would be ready to welcome them back again when the war was over. Private Walker replied on behalf of the men briefly expressing their thanks and conveying appreciation for the gift which had been presented. The evening concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the lusty rendition of musical honours.
