WEDDING
GASKILL—RUSSELL A very pretty wedding which took place at St. Mary's Church, Opotiki, recently, was one of interest as both parties were of well-known Opotiki'. pioneer families. The bride was. Beatrice Norma, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs David Russell, Op.otiki, ancl the bridegroom was-Roy Bruce,, third son of Mr and Mrs G. Gaskill, Opotiki. The Rev. Father Brady performed the ceremony and Mn» Quirk presided at the organ.
The bride,, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in an elegant gown of cream bridal satin. The close-fitting bodice had tiny buttons down the back and th> heart-shapedj neckline was finished, with two small sprays of orange blossom at! the sides. The graceful moving and slim fitting skirt wasj cut on flowing lines to form a long' train. A beautiful hand embroidered silk veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom into soft folds forming a second train. She carried a sheaf of Avhite tiger lilies and bouvardia with maiden hair fern.
Miiss Cecilia -Russell, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She,-wore a : crinoline frock of pink. The tightfitting satin bodice had buttons down the back and was finished with, a satin bow making a bustle effect. A small spray of blue forget-me-not was worn on the low neckline. The skirt and slepves were of flounced tulle frills over taffetas and she wore a shell pink old English bonnet trimmed with flowers. He>r sheaf was of pink gladioli, asters and ftiger lilies together with maiden hair fern.
Little Maureen C'rosswell, cousin of the bride, was flower girl and made a charming picture in a cornflower blue taffeta crinoline. Small pink rosebuds were worn at the neck of the fitting bodice. The skirt and sleeves were cut on similar lines \o the bridesmaid's with smaller taffeta frills from the waist to the hem. Hex cornflower-blue bonnet was finished with blue flowers and she carried an assorted basket of jink sweet peas, asters and greenery. The duties of best man. were carried out by Mr Harold Bridge. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Wattle Tearooms, where a handsomo two-tier wedding cake held pride of place. Miss Cecilia Russell during the breakfast sang "Love Is All," Mrs Quirk accompanying on the piano. The guests v/ere received, by Mr and Mrs Russoll. The latter was attired in a latest blue matt crepe frock trimmed with pale pink at theneck. She had matching accessories and carried a bouquet of pink asters and zinnias intermingled with asparagus fern.
Later tha happy couple |eft on their honeymoon, Mirs GasMll travelling in a model black angora wool' suit with black hat and accessories.
