OTAKIRI EVENT

PATRIOTIC DANCE

The Otakiri Patriotic Committee held its first dance of the 1941 season on Thursday evening in the Otakiri Hall and it jDroved a very successful function. There was a large attendance, visitors being present from all parts of the district. The hall was gaily decorated with greenery and the stage with its red, white and blue decorations added greatly to the appearance. Music was supplied by the Gaiety Boys in their usual good) style. The Monte Carlo Waltz was won by Miss M. Armer and Mr W. Johns, and the Spot Foxtrot by Mrs Crawford and Mr Roulston. A mystery competition was won by F. M. Crawford. A soft drink and ice cream stall in the capable hands of Mrs Dahlin was well patronised throughout the night and the Candid Camera Man was kept busy.

Mr R. Dunning kindly donated two sacks of vegetables which added greatly to the proceeds of the dance.

A good supper was. served by members of the committee and many willing helpers. Great credit is due to the ladies of Otakiri and surrounding districts for their help by way of providing supper at the many dances so far held in Otakiri. Mr O: Lord capably officiated as M.G. and dancing continued till the early hours of the morning.
