OBITUARY

MR CHARLES SAVAGE A cable has been received to the effect that Mr Charles Savage, brother of Mr J. F. Savage, of Nukuhou, has passed away at Cowra, New South Wales, at the age of G9 3 r ears. He was one of the original settlers who took up land at the first Waimana land ballot in 1907, and he assisted for many years in establishing the dairying industry in the district, being chairman of the first dairy company. He also took an interest in agitating for the opening up of an outlet by building roads and bridges.

After a residence of 10 years lie sold out and went to Australia where he started farming. His wifei died while at Waimana and a grown up family is engaged farming in various parts of the North Island.
