CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
TUESDAY evening next will see the first meeting of the Chamber of Commerce for the New Year. The agenda sheet shows a number of questions hoary with age, but nevertheless vital to the progress of the town. The tar-sealing-of the Ohope road comes first, the long-lost Aerodrome next, and the much-debated rubbish collection last. Apart from general business the above will constitute the backbone of the debate and businessmen are reminded of the splendid attendances last year, and urged to continue to show their interest to ensuring there is no falling off in the new session.
Tennis Match. A team of Methodist Club players is to visit Ohope to-morrow to play a match. Praise for Ohope. "It may interest you to know that people from Auckland and the Waikato speak with pride of their visits to Ohope Beach," said Mr A. K. Graham, Commissioner of Crown Lands last Wednesday. "Many of them class it with a visit to Sydney. Ohope has certainly won a i|reat reputation for itself as a resort and I only hope that it will continue to in popularity."
! Home Guard at Opotiki. So far the enrolments in the Home Guard in the Opotiki district number 300, but as the quota for the area is 500 more recruits are urgently wanted.
