HOME GUARD PARADES

LARGE ATTENDANCE OF RECRUITS TRAINING COMMENCES The first parade of the new year 'was held last night when over 250 local Guardsmen were present at the Winter Show Buildings and training was commenced in earnest. The platoon commanders, who recently underwent intense instruction, were well equipped to commence the training and considerable elementary work was accomplished. Many recruits, who had not attested, filled in forms and took the •oath of allegiance and when this task was completed, platoons were formed and the various units gvien squad drill. It is the intention to give all sections a fair grounding in this drill before detailing them, to their special duties and pursuing the syllabus of training arranged. Parades are to be held on Thursday each week and in future will bjhield out of doors providing weather is suitable.
