VESSELS HELD UP
SWITZERLAND'S FLEET ITALIAN- GREEK WAR Landlocked Switzerland's entire seagoing merchant marine, totalling 17 freighters, found itself liarbourbound because of the ItalianGreek Avar. The Swiss chartered the freighters about a year ago for operation under the then neutral Greek Hag. They had British permission to pass Gibraltar and Italian permission to unload cargo at Genoa for rail transport to Switzerland. Noaa' Greece is a belligerent. The Saalss Avar transport office announced that "due to recent events" and "until further notice" the freighters plying betAvecn NeAV York and Genoa must remain idle. Negotiations are under Avay Avith Britain and Italy, however, for special treatment for these ships.
