SCHOOL BALL
GALA AT WAIMANA EXHIBITIONS BY CHILDREN' A! most successful fancy dress school ball was lield in Waimana recently. The proceeds of the function went to school funds. Great credit is due to the teachers, Mr Bell and Miss Wragge, for the way in which the children did the folk dances, sang and for their good behaviour. Mrs King supplied the dance music for the adults, the children dancing to gramophone, selections. The function opened with the Grand March, which was executed without a mistake. The senior girls gave a display of the Maypole Dance, which was very effective. Mr Bell then called 011 young folk from the assembly to repeat the dance. As a result the children and the assembly were in peals of laughter to see the tangle they were in Items given were: Singing by the Juniors and Seniors; Choral Recitation "The Train" and "Thrushes Song"; Recitations were given by Ben Hiko, Heather Bell, Joy Boynton and John Boynton; Folk dane, ing, Juniors; "Pop goes the Weasel," "Brighton Camp/' "Gallopede' Seniors Folk Dancing; "If all the World were Paper," "Gathering Peascods," "Sellengers Round." "Circassion Circle," "Epping Forest" and "Mage on
a Cree."
