EARTHQUAKE ASSISTANCE

THOUGH it was not required it was pleasing* to learn of the prompt measures taken by the newly formed Earthquake Emergency Committee, to proffer immediate and practical aid to any persons or families who may have suffered as a result of the recent earthquake. The message to the Mayor of Whakatane from Major Abel indicates that the committee is already in good shape ready and. keen to launch its well planned activities should need arise in any part of the Dominion. The enquiry also carried with it a note of reassurance to the public generally,, by the knowledge that sUch an organisation existed and would: in future safeguard victims against loss, and also care for them in the event of injury.
