RACING NOTES
Different Performers. On Saturday at Te Awamutu the Hawke's Bay apprentice Waddeli rode a line race on Greek Queen in the Te Awamutu Cup. winning clcverly in a big field. In the following event, the Hack Cup he was given the mount on Esquire, also trained by R. 11. Martin at Matamata. This Foxbridge—Golden Wed ding representative put in a very unwilling preliminary,, and at the post behaved stubbornly, so much so that lie elected to stop there and took no part ia the race. In due course,, after the race had 'been run., lie was prevailed upon to -canter back to' the bird cage. His backers were doubtless disappointed at his jibbing tactics, but what Waddei! thought has not been noted for publication. Esquire was ridden latei in the afternoon in the Paterangi Handicap by Eegulcy but again stay ed over at the post, and took no part in the contest. For some time he will not be very popular with baekcrs.
