SCOUT INTERESTS
A SEARCH FOR A SECRETARY Though the membership of the .Whakatane Bo 3* Scout Troop remains particularly strong, the- difficulty confronting lh3 citizens' committee at the preseilt time is its inability to find a suitable; person to take over the task of secretary. This fact was disclosed at a meeting held recently, when the chairamn pointed out that since Mr W, Crawford's enlistment, he had been carrying on pvo tem. He considered however, that some ex-Scout should -offer his services and thus indicate that he appreciated what had been done for him as a Scouter. The matter 'of discovering a suitable man was left in Lhe hands of Scoutmaster C. P. Lucas and Mr J. D. Rivett The assistantiScoutmaster, Mr V. 'Allen, suggested that a points prize be awarded to troop in all round efficiency the year. This was left ir of. Scoutmaster Lucas and his assistant and when formulated will be endorsed by the committee. The question of an annual camp was discussed;, Rev. Lucas contending that an ideal place would be beside one of Ihe Rotorua lakes. It was pointed out, however, that this would entail much expense and transports rouble and a countersuggestion fixed Ohiwa as a probable site. This matter will be dealt with later and the camp, if it eventuates, will take place in mid-Jan-
uary. A vote of sympathy was passed to the parents of the late Scout RLoombes. f r-.- ■ —
