NUKUHOU NORTH NOTES
CALF CLUB MEETING (Own Correspondent). The annual Calf Club day was held at the Nukuhou School last Monday, when the judges, Mr N. Car ter and Mr Fleming had an entry of 23 calves to view. At the conclusion of the judging, Mr Carter addressed the children, staling that there was a wonderful improvement in . the calves since the club's activities first commenced. He said Lionel Eagle's grade Jersey calf was a real picture, and had exceptionally good handling. He advised the children to select the best calves and keep them on the uphill move, and do it well. Mr Fleming also addressed the chil dren and parents. The awards were as follows: — Senior Jersey Class: Christine | Ryan 1, Elsie Robinson 2, Ann Grans wick 3. , Junior Jersey Class: Lionel Eagle 1, Neil McDonald 2, Earl Eagle 3. Yearlings, Heavy. Breeds: Earl Eagle 1, Beverley Ryan 2. Calves for Condition, Light Breeds Christine Ryan 3. Heavy Breeds: Lionel Eagle 1. Pedigree Jersey: Lola Savage 1. The school gardens were judged by Mrs Spanhake and the results were:— Senior: Irma Doran 1, Maud Hayden 2, Denis Black 3. Junior: Ann Cranswick 1, Elsip Robinson 2. Primers: Dick Robinson 1, Cushln Doran 2, Meryl Robinson 3. At the conclusion of- the judging all present were entertained at a dainty luncheon, Mr Carter thanking the ladies for their wonderful hospitality, which was much appreciated.
