BOYS' ENTERPRISE
diving board erected Adopting the old adage that God helps those who help themselves a group of local boys who were keen to add to the town's swimming facilities decide to go about the raising of funds for the purpose of erecting a diving board on the landing abutting the Strand. A canvass of the business houses resulted in the sum of £5 being raised. As the board was only to cost £3, the balance will be handed over to the school committee, for the purpose of effecting improvements at the swimming pool in the Maraetotara Gorge.
