INITIAL MEETING HELD BOROUGH'S SCHEME OUTLINED: The initial meeting of the Borough's Emergency Precautions Committee was held last night. Those, present were His Worship the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, chairman, the Town Clerk, Mr D. V. Saunders, the deputy-Mayor, Mr S. S, S hap ley the Medical Superintendent of the Whakatane Hospital, Dr. E. T.eWslev" DaAVSon, the Borough Foreman, Mr W. Henderson, the Electrical En'gineer, Mr F. \\ T . Lysaght,. the Fire Brigade Superintendent, Mr F. H. Stewart and the local Home Guard commander, Mr L. B ; : Savage. Major contribution to the committee's deliberations was Dr. Dawson's summary of the requirements, in manpower, nurses and equipment, for the temporary hospital proposed in the Borough's emergency precautions scheme. Conflicting requirements of the Home Guard, and the precautions scheme resulted in considerable discussion and points raised will be presented in a later issue.
