EFFECT OF CARNIVAL ON BUSINESS At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday night, wlien discussion centred on the proposed New Year's Eve Carnival,, it was stated by a member of the Cham ber that the shopkeepers -would not benefit by the carnival.. The people would remain in the streets and little business would be done. Another view was expressed by Mr K. Price, who said that the aim would not be to make money out of the carnival so much as to interest and maintain the public and keep the town alive. In any case, said Mr Price, business would not be affected to any great extent because the main purchasing of the public was executed before Christmas,
