THE HOME GUARD
RUATOKI'S FINE RESPONSE
200 ENROLMENTS in borough The majority of the area committees have not yet got under way with' their campaign for Home Guard enrolments but in some districts recruiting is going ahead. Taneatua has so far enrolled 'M and 24 applications for inclusion in the Guard have been received from Waimana residents. By far the host return of the country areas, however, is that furnished by Ruatoki. Though enrolments received by the central committee's secretary, Mr G. Usher, number 98, 150 men from the Ruatoki district have been recruited. The difference between the total and the acknowledgment is accounted for by the fact that some of the forms were * not in order and have had to be returned to the committee. Two hundred have signed up in tlie borough, showing that the men ofWhakatane are keen, and the num-t ber is a tribute to the efforts of the borough committee and a reward for the intensive recruiting campaign conducted recently. Forms received by the central committee total 382.
