THEFT CHARGES
PROBATION FOR YOUNG MAUI £13 INVOLVED Three charges of theft of money, J involving the 5 sum of £13, Avere'pre*? , , ferred against Arthur Charles Lang, : ( aged 20, in the Police Court yesterday, Messrs, G. A. Brabant antl G. R. Kent, Justices, were on the Bench. Lang elected summary jurisdiction and pleaded guilty to all' counts. V Sergoant M. Farrell said that accused was employed at the Hangltaiki Dairy Company's pig farm at Edgecumbe. He occupied a whare with other emijloyees and two of the . charges related to his companion's ; money. His employer gave him a Jj good reputation as a worker and he ' J had never previously been before I? the court. Full restitution had been made. \, V Sergeant Farrell added that no-" cused had asked him to request * s~_JJ suppression of his name. Asked if he had anything to say Lang said: "I do npt think there is ; very much I can say. I would like my name suppressed." Observing that the Act for a sentence of six months im- Jpw!
prisonment on each charges, and thatj;; suppression was out of the question when accused was treated sa leniently., the Bench convicted Lang and placed him on probation for a period of 12 months.
