A subject to be discussed at to-morrow's meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be the possibility of promoting a New Year Carnivarfor the entertainment of visitors and shoppers on a night hitherto regarded as 'dead' from a business point of view- The project is an admirabe one, which in spite of the war, should meet with the fullest co-opera-tion of all shop holders. Enterprise of this nature will help to breed that initiative which will put Whakatane on the map and endorse her position as the coming centre of the Bay of' Plenty.
