VALEDICTORY
— ♦- PRESENTATION TO SISTER MARY LOWERY On Wednesday evening, October "23, a large parly of friends arrived by surprise at the Mission House, Te Teko. They had gathered to honour and to bid farewell to Sister Mary Lowery who has been transferred to the Presbyterian Mission Station at Nuhaka. An enjoyable evening of happy fellowship was spent in music, fun -and games. Musical items were rendered by Miss S. Woodliekl, Mr tL McDonald and Mr G. McDonald, :and a humorous sketch by Mr R. Briggs and Mr H. McDonald. After supper, Miss Lowery was asked to receive *1 xylonite dressing table set and a navy umbrella, a token of the love and esteem of her many friends in • the district. The thanks and appreciation for all she has meant to those among whom she has worked were expressed to her, special mention being made "of the Bible Class. On behalf of the parents. Mrs Jamieson thanked Miss Lowery for her work among the children and for the fine example of her own life which she had set before them. Mr Briggs expressed the esteem of the young men of the Bible Class, and Rev .L Starncs, of Edgecumbe, representing the Maori Missions Committee, spoke in appreciation of services faithfully rendered for her Lord and Master by Miss Lowery. A posy of redi roses and carnations was presented to the guest of the evening by Miss Ruth Ewen. Before parting all present wished their friend great joy and offered their sincere good wishes for her ■ work in the years to come.
