OBITUARY
MRS E. 8.. Later she married and, with her husband went on to a bush section in Taranaki where by dint of hard ef-» fort they transformed a piece of virgin land into first class farming land. Some years later the family „ removed to Feilding and then again, to Dannevirke, farming successfully in both districts. A further move: was made to O.torohanga where once again they broke in new land arid disposed of it to advantage. In 1911 Mrs Ranby went with her family to Canada where it had been decided they would try their fortunes. Set-. tling in Alberta, they , took up 1000 acres, and devoted most of their efforts towards the raising of wheat. For 28 years they remained on this farm leaving it only two years ago when the return journey was made to New Zealand, and the family settled in Whakatane, living first at Ohope and later removing into town In 1930, the late Mrs Ranby lost her husband who originally came from Christchurch, and in the early days w r as one of the crack shots of the Christchurch City. Guards. She leaves a family of four sons and three daughters, Messrs A- G. Ranby (Edgecumbe), C. R. Ranby (Ohope) J. G. Ranby (Vancouver), J. A J Ranby (Whakatane), and Mrs Mit-* chell (Vancouver); Mrs C. Hollister (Whakatane); and Miss Phyllis ' Ranby (Whakatane). There are fifteen grandchildren. The funeral will take place to-morrow.
