PATRIOTIC MEETING AT TANEATUA PROGRAMME FOR LABOUR DAT? A particularly fine programme, guaranteeing success, has been arranged by the Taneatua Patriotic Committee for the Labour Day Sports Meeting to be held at the Taneatua Domain, particulars of which were advertised in Friday's issue. The Whakatane Caledonian Society's Pipe Band will be in attendance and proceedings will commence with a Fancy Dress Parade, starting from the HoteP corner at 10 a.m. Luncheon and refreshments will be procurable on the ground. The programme, includes:— A 50 yards Handicap Married Ladies; 75yds Handicap Single Ladies; Ladies' Blindfold Race; Ladies' Egg and Spoon Race; Thread the Needle, Ladies- and Men; Men's Sack R.ace; 100 yds Open Handicap; Hop, Step and Jump; Three Legged Race, Ladies and Men; Pickaback Race, Men carrying Ladies 30yds; Wheel-, barrow Race, Men piloted by Ladies 30yds; Tug of War, teams 6 aside; Tossing the Sheaf; Putting the Shot; Pillow Fight on Rail; Tossing the Caber; Stepping the Chain; Sheep Weight Guessing; High School Boys 100 yds Handicap; High School Girls 75yds Handicap; High Jump Open Handicap; Fancy Dress Parade Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls; High School Boys 1 mile Handicap. 30 Primary School Children's events. Programme by Mr Fox. Stewards Avill be Messrs G. Bennett, M. Reid, V. Alexander, Trevor Hill-. T. Davies, W. Richardson, C, Old, A. L. Richardson, E. Hill, R. Ruddick, J. Rae, H. Hill and A.
