POWDRELL SUCCESSFUL IN VETERAN'S COMPETITION The 36 Hole Medal Handicap competition for Veterans (Thicksey Shield) Avasc ompleted on Saturday and was Avon' for the second, year in succession by A, Powdrell with a fine performance of 147 net. L. Norriss was runner-up Avith 153 net. Jhe Colts' competition for the President's trophy was Avon by L. B. Smith at the top of his_form Avith a splendid 144 net very closely followed by W. Henderson as runnerup with 145. The Ecclectic competition for Junior members Avas Avon by T. Henderson 73 with N. Reynolds, 77, runnerup. There Avill be no club competition next Saturday on account of the opening of bowls by the Wliakatane BoAAding Club. Members AA'ho will be playing golf on that day are asked to play a Bogey sweepstake, Is entrance, for Runnerstrum Patriotic tickets.
