FIRE SERVICE VOLUNTEERS.
Wanted, urgently; men. who will be willing to join the Whakatane Auxiliary Fire Brigade, and -thus ensure that this important service will be maintained at full strength during the temporary absence of firemen now serving with the military forces. The position revealed at the recent meeting of the Fire Board indicates that there is: a pressing need for public spirited men who will be exempt from military training for various reasons, to join up and replace the younger brigadesmen who have answered, the call. The types required are fit ex-Firemen for preference, or men whose responsibilities place them for some time at least beyond military control. The service in itself is a commendable one and should appeal to men who feel that they owe a certain duty to the community and who will take a pleasure in performing it.
