WHAKATANE'S INCLUSION IN No. 2A AREA HEADQUARTERS AT ROTORUA The Rotorua Town Clerk, in a letter to the Whakatane County Clerk advises that tlie Whakatane County has been included in tlie No. 2A Home Guard Area, the headquarters | of which are at Rotorua. The boroughs and counties in- | eluded in the area Rotorua, Tauranga, Te Puke, Whakatane and Opotiki Boroughs and Rotorua, Tau ranga, Whakatane, Opotiki and Taupo Counties. The registration numbers allotted to the various districts (counties and boroughs combined), ,show that Rotorua and Whakatane -will provide almost 50 per cent of the strength, the figures reading: Whakatane 850 (550 in the county and 300 in the borough); Rotorua 850; Tauranga 700; Te Puke 300; Opotiki 500;- Taupo 300. Referring to pamphlets intended to be handed to individuals enquiring for information, it is advised that in view of the paper shortage it is desired that distribution should be limited as much as possible. A synopsis of the Home Guard Scheme will be published on Monday.
