Messrs M. -Smith and J. H. Hewitson have been elected as delegates re- ■ presenting the Te Whaiti and Rua-,. tahuna Patriotic Committee respectively. At the meeting of the Zone 'G* Whakatane County and Borough In-ter-Zone Patriotic Committee on Wednesday leave of absence was granted to Mrs Luxton and R. Cocketron, and J. W. Sumner. ENGAGEMENT Gillgren—Hansen — The engagement is announced between Thomas, second son of Mr and Mrs J. Gill-' gren, Waimata Valley, Gisborne, and. Daphne Mona, elder daughter of Mrs P. M. Hansen and the late Mr y P. M. Hansen, of Whakatane.
