RURAL HOUSING
. : ■ Sir—l wish to endorse "Mr J. Mullins remarks in the Beacon of the 26th September and I think that if the, ratepayers will take Mr Mull ins' warning in considering well, before allowing for Rural Housing Schemes to become effective in our country, they will not be disappointed in the future. What I can see from this scheme only people who are deeply involved, could, benefit by they, having no assets to offer are prohibited, unless favoured by the Couutv Council or committee set up to analyse the applications. It would appear by our county fchairman's remarks that he would still like to. go on with the scheme in spite of the opposition put for-* ward at the meetings. I was rather of the opinion that the councillors were elected to protect the interests of the ratepayers, not involve them. Now Sir, I consider that, as Mr Burnett and a number of the Coun-j cillors are so enthusiastic, to involve the rights of the. ratepayers, irrespective of their views, he and the councillors in favour of the scheme, offer themselves as guarantors for this loan instead of involving the whole of the ratepayers. Yours etc.. RATEPAYER.
