BOROUGH CAMPAIGN AGAINST RUBBISH AND RATS CO-OPERATION REQUESTED In a circular to the Whakatane Borough Council requests public co-operation in a wide and systematic rubbish collection and in a determined effort at the extermination of rats. ' It will be noted that the rubbishcollection affects only household rubbish at private yards and vacant sections and does not incl'iiile the disposal ol' trade and business refuse. Residents are asked to collect all incombustible rubbish, tins, bottles, etc.,, and have it stacked in a lieap at the roadside in front of their properties. Rubbisih not so stacked will not be removed and rubbish of an objectionable nature or destructible by burning will not be handled. The dates rnd areas for the : collection are:— Wednesday, October 16 th: The area East of the Rock, and Apanui and All and ale. Thursday, October 17th: The, remainder of the Borough. Rats. During the same week occupiers of lands, business premises and residences are lequested. to combine in a campaign to exterminate rats. The services of the Pied Piper will not be invoked but free rat poison will) be available for issue at the Borough Office and residents are invited to call or send for their requirements. It should not be necessary to state that the full and active co-operation of the public is absolutely necessary for the success of this blitzkrieg.
