A NARROW ESCAPE
ELDERLY MAORI'S EXPERIENCE FALL TNTO HARBOUR Fished' out of the Whakatane harbour in the chill ol' the evening an elderly Maori almost frozen to the bone informed his rescuers that he had been pushed into the water fully clothed by an unknown person who had left him to struggle out as best he could. Whether the story was true or not, the fact remains that the victim suffered several gashes to the head in the fail, and made a very forlorn picture as he stood dripping wet on the roadway. Some pakelias however came to the rescue and aftei a hot bath, and a change of clothing subscribed from half a dozen different wardrobes, Hori pronounced himself lit to travel. He departed in a much happier frame of mind, though as he pointed out his newly acquired footwear was far from a perfect fit.
