FIRST BALLOT

GENERAL RESERVE NEAR END OF THIS MONTH The first ballot of men for the first Division of the General Reserve will take place towards the end of tlii-s indnth. Men drawn in the ballot and passed medically fit will be required tc enter camp with territorial units next month. If men are required for overseas service their names will, again go into the ballot. The inclusion of. men in the territorial forces does not remove their names from the list who will be balloted for overseas service. Serving territorials are also liable for inclusion in the ballot. The first division of the General Reserve consists of all" male reservists who are natural-born British subjects and who are unmarried and are between the ages of nineteen and forty-six years of age. Those excluded are members of any armed force who are liable for service outside New Zealand, men who have been discharged because of dis ablement or ill-health" from any armed force - afler serving outside New Zealand in the present war and men undergoing a sentence of imprisonment for a term of not less than one year, or in confinement as of unsound mind. Widowers, divorced men, and men separated from their wives, all of whom h:Vve no children, and men who married.on or after May 1, 1940, are classed as single.
