APPLICANTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ■ " ' FINANCE EXECUTIVE'S BRIEF REVIEW There had been only seven or eight applicants for financial assistance in, this area in the. first month, said .Mr S. P. Girdwood, State Advances Corporation, Tauranga, a member of the EasternBay of Plenty financial executive committee at the. Primary Production Council's, meeting on Fridayj Describing the response from farmers as disappointing, Mr Girdwood said it had been expected that many would, avail themselves of the offer of cheap money, particularly for piggery lay-outs. In the Eastern Bay of Plenty the majority of the applications had been for the purchase of dairy stock. In the Taurang'a district about twenty-five applications i had been received. Mr Girdwood added that about <10 per cent of the applications received had been turned down as unsound. .
