AUXILIARY CORPS IN BAY OF PLENTY AMBULANCE AND MUSKETRY TRAINING The Auxiliary Corps which has recently been formed toy the Legion of Frontiersmen and is now in the process of being trained by that organisation is still growing in numbers_, the total number of enrolled members being at present 306, comprised as follows: Tauranga 66, Te Puke 147; Mt Maunganui 33; Katikati 60.. At each of the weekly parades held in these districts, new members are' being enrolled, and wlxen it is remembered that there is a. National Military Reserve Company in Tauranga of over 120 strong, as well as Mounted and Infantry Ter-. ritorial Units, it must be recognised, that the . men in this area are fully alive to the position, and are eager -to do their bit to the best of their ability, and become trained and organised so that, if, at any time their services are required/ they will be able to give a good account of themselves „ As is generally known, the National, Military Reserve under the leadership of Captain. Good, has a full day parade every Sunday, and this company is rapidly becoming a very efficient unit. The officers and N.G.O„'s of the Territorial Units are now in camp undergoing a refresher course in pre paredness for the training of the men under their command. At present Squad and Rifle drill is the order. An ambulance class has been formed under the direction of the St., Jolin Ambulance Association with Dr. Brass as lecturer. A signalling section has also been formed. > The enthusiasm of all members of the Auxiliary Corps is most gratify- ; ing, and they find the training both instructive and interesting. The members of this auxiliary corps will carry on with this training until such, time as the Home Guard is formed,, when they will join that unit officially.
