RANGITAIKI TO PLAY ROTORUA TEAM FOR SATURDAY It is understood Opotiki will not meet Rangitaiki on Saturday in a return match for the Hurinui Apanui/ Shield and the Rangitaiki Union has accordingly made arrangements to play Rotorua at Rotorua.' This game will probably prove to be the last representative fixture of the season and should resolve itself into a keen and interesting contest as Rangitaiki and Rotorua rank as the two best teams in the Bay of Plenty this season. The Rangitaiki representatives wilt be chosen from the following players:— P„ Tama, Whitely, Parkes, Kakalio Schooner, Renata, Kaipara, Francis, Carter, McGracken, L. Gardner, E. Gardner, Phillips, Peeina, Howell, R. Lees, T. Lees, M. Lees, Jones and Conn. COMMENT ON THE BAY OF PLENTY-AUCKLAND GAME The Baj- of Plenty forwards infused plenty of dash into their play in the first spell, and they rallied well in the second half after appearing to be tired and well beaten says the "N.Z. Herald," in commenting on Saturdaj r 's representative game. Car ter and Hughes did great work on the line-out, and Whitely, Mathicson and Reube all played good games. Lendruin proved himself a capable halfback and the other backs revealed football ability. No doubt with a game or two together the Bay of Plenty fifteen would be difficult to beat. Rayment, playing at fullback as an emergency, gave "a high-class display, his line kicking saving his forwards a great deal of running about and being one of the features of the match. Delamere, the back row forward, did not resume after half-time, his place being taken by Phillips. A CORRECTION In the brief report on the Bay of Plenty-jAuckland fixture it was stated .that Reube scored both tries for the Bay and that one was converted by Delamere. Tries were scored by Reube and Mathieson, the latter being • converted by Phillips, the Rangitaiki forward who replaced Delamere at half-time. THE FULLBACK POSITION Francis, Rangitaiki fullback, after playing consistently good games all through the season, was selectec to represent the Bay of Plenty against Auckland last Saturday but the injury to his nose sustained? during the Opotiki-Rangitaiki game a fortnight earlier prevented him froir taking the field with the Bay team
"ORDERED OFF" The unusual happening of the referee of a Rugby football match hav■swig occasion to "order off" a touch judge came before a meeting of the Otago Rugby Union recently, states the Otago Daily /rimes. It was reported by Mr S. J, McCouncil, who was referee in the liftli grade match between Port Chalmers and Kaikorai at Ravensbournc, that lie had ordered off one of the touch judges for persistent questioning of rulings and making threatening remarks during the game. The man refused to give his name, but the captain of the Port Chalmers team, of which the touch judge supporter, was able to provide it. The meeting decided to ask the Port Chalmers Club to make an investigation with a view to having the touch judge appear before the union.
