LYCEUM CLUB

DRAMATIC CIRCLE * ■ ' THREE ACT PLAY PRESENTED? Monday night was "open" night at the Lyceum Club and the mem-' bers of the Drama Circle staged a three act play, "No Man's Island." The scenes on board, ship and on the island were capably staged. The cast was:- Linda Matthews, Mrs Dawson; Lydia Foreman, Mrs Riddle; Mathilda, Mrs Littlejohn; Sophie Webster, Mrs Morice; Mrs Burridge, Mrs Appleby; Dorothea Parish, Mrs H. Armstrong; Gabrielle Fay, Miss M. Whiteside; Pamela Diamond, Mrs Fletcher-Cole; Adelaide Wilmot, Mrs Thomas; Theodora Bridgewater,- Mrs E. Armstrong. The play was produced by Mrs E. Armstrong.

Among the audience were Mrs B* S, Barry, Mrs Savage, Mrs Otley, Mrs J. Martin, Mrs C. Walker, Mrs S. Armstrong, Mrs C. Thomas, Mrs W. Bridger, Mrs C. Southey,. Mrs Morcom, Mrs It. Campbell, Mrs Anderson (Auckland), Misses B. Allan, G. Savage, S. Otley, J. Barrowman* J. Hunter. J WAINGARARA NOTES SCHOOL BASKETBALL The final basketball match of the season, for the Jeffery Shield, was played between .the Wangar&ra School (holders) and Kutarere, the holders retaining the Shield by 10 goals to 6. Previous' matches played were: Waingarara defeated Waiotahi 11-5, arid Kutarere defeated Woodland's 14-8. After a dainty afternoon tea liatl .. been served by the Waingarara residents, Mr T. Burke,* Chairman of the School Committee,, presented the school mistress, Mrs -Edgecombe, with a crystal decantav ifftumblers and a brass tray, gifts from the pupils and residents of the district. . Mrs Edgecombe responded . Mr Wells also spoke on behalf =of the visiting basketball teams, thanking the home team and residents for UkT pleasant afternoon. The referees for the matches w r ere Miss Smith, Mrs Morell and Miss Schweiters.
