SPRING CATTLE FAIR 1200 HEAD SOLD The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltdl reports having held a most successful Annual Spring Cattle Fair at the Whakatane saleyards on the 27th August. There was a yarding of approximately 1200 head of cattle and n total clearance was effected under the hammer. One straight line of 83 2-year P.A. steers realised £8 19s for 43 and £8 16s for 40. 3-year well grown Hereford steers £9 3s to £9 7s; 4-year Hereford steers up to £9 15s; 4-iyear P.A. steers up to £10 Is; 2-year Hereford steers £7 lis to £7 17s 6d: yearling H. and P.A. steers £4 12s to £5 7s; yearling H- and P.A. heifers £3 lis to £3 17s; 2-year H. and P.A. heifers £5 to £5 15s; light fat H. and P.A. bullocks £11; light fat H. and; P.A. 3-year heifers £7 9s to £7 195.. ; OPOTIKI PIG SALE j LATE RATES MAINTAINED Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual fortnightly pig sale, when a small yardving of all classes came forward, baconers predominating. Competition was keen throughout, at fully late l'atcs, but stores sold under an advance on recent ruling rates. Realisations; Baconers £3 10s to £4 2s; light baconers £3 to £3 10s; porkers £2 9s to £3 3s; stores £2 4s to £3; weaners 25s to 30s; smaller sorts £1 to 255.
