OBITUARY

MR ROY IFWERSEN The death occurred in the Wliakatane Hospital last week of Mr Roy Ifwersen,. who for the last eight years had been stationed in Whakatanc as a tester for the . Bay 4of Plenty and East Coast Herd Iraproveriient Association. The son of the late Mr E. C.'lfwersen and Mrs Ifwersen, of Parnell, Auckland, Mr Roy Ifwersen received his education at the Grafton School and was then engaged iii farming .at Papakura until the outbreak of the Great War. He immediately enlisted, his age being 18, 'and proceeded overesas. During his service Mr Ifwersen was badly gassed' and tlfis affected his health. After his return he took up land at Ramarama and. farmed for some years until lie left to study at I&assey College. Eight years ago he was appointed to the position he occupied until his death. Mr Ifwersen was a member of a famous football family and he represented Auckland. A brother, Karl, is well known as an ex-All Black, and another brother, Neil, also represented Auckland. It was about twenty years ago that the. name of Ifwersen starred in the football world, although K. Ifwersen is still interested in the game, having acted as sole selector for North Auckland for a number of years. J The late Mr Ifwersen was 44 years of age.
