THE NEW CEMETERY
| BOROUGH AND COUNTY ! ! PROBLEM A VEXED QUESTION The vexed' question of a new cemetery for Borough and County use, which has caused some worry to both councils, again came in for discussion on Mo n day night, when the Borough Council received a letter from the County Council advising that nothing had been offered which could cause the hitter body to alter its opinion, His Worship the Mayor said It seemed to him to be a peculiar position. The two local bodies had an equal duty"and he failed to see why one should endeavour to place all the responsibility on the other. It was no more the duty of the Borough than the County, Mr Barry continued, especially in view of the figures, which showed a greater County use. The Mayor said he was disappointed at the County Council's attitude. Perhaps the position could be improved if the Borough Council had a more concrete proposal and to that end he suggested > the selection of a site without thought of contributions or prejudice. His Worship ay as supported by Cr W. Sullivan, who said it Avas as much the County's responsibility as the Borough's. A joint committee might arrive at some reasonable basis.
