POROFORO BOYS AND GIRLS ON THE JOB An effort worthy of special mention in despatches is that made over some weeks by the children of the Poroporo School in doing their bit to assist the good cause of patriotic funds. Bringing their own small contributions every morning, in the belief that 'every mickel makes a muckle,* the - total grew* Competing in events at the Winter Show, the school children accumulated prize money to the extent of £2 Is 3d, and a recent decision added this amount to that gathered by contribution, and the total, £6 10s, has been handed over to the local Maori patriotic committee. This is an instance of the spirit animating the people of New Zealand to-day.
